  • The man in the grey T-Shirt is trapped to his waist. The man in the brown T-Shirt  is down even further. There is an IV in his arm; standard procedure for incidents such as this. The crossing bars are Hurst Air Shores: The ART (Airshore Rescue Tools) are high-strength aluminum stabilization struts.  The tools can be used either pneumatically (with air) or manually depending on the particular application. They are used to support wooden braces placed against the pit walls to prevent another cave-in.
  • CFD Special Operations fireman in the pit. These guys... they do this work with enthusiasm, joy, and finely honed professionalism.

  • Shoring held firm by air pressure. Notice at the far left, just to the right of the partially cut off Special Operations firemen, a yellow tube attached to the Air Shore. This is attached on the other end to an air bottle and pressure gauges. The red tube is attached to the other Air Shore. Air is pushed under pressure through the  large, yellow accordion tube.
