  • The guys in these "baskets" often "take a beating" from smoke, water and the elements, in winter ice, and cold. I asked one of them, red eyed and ice covered, when it was over "you took a beating up there huh? He just laughed and said it was fun.

  • Coordination of the various ariels, these two plus one more, is always something to behold. Fighting fire is like combat in that it is variable, confused, and full of surprises. Yet they prevail in all but a few instances. It is really quite remarkable..
